Well, here I am with a novel that is short of 3k words. There are many coffee cups piled in the sink, my computer chair is shaped to fit my body by now, and I am screaming at my dead computer. As most of you know, my mother's computer crashed a few weeks ago. It just crashed for no apparent reason at all. I wasn't too worrried though, because I still had my dad's laptop.
Okay, now it's January 31st, and 8:30pm. I had two hours to write 3k words to pass my goal. Completely confident in Write or Die, I approached the laptop as a brave warrior. Spear and Shield in hand, I prepared myself for my journey, thinking of myself as the old NaNoWriMo log of the little guy with the pencil. Steps that I took:
  • Take deep breath
  • Sit down in chair
  • Push "On" button
  • Hand over mouth, drop to the floor
Lo and behold, boxes start popping up from the virus protector. After a few pictures (if you know what I mean), the computer turned itself off. Lovely, right?
Now it's back and working wonderfully of course! *hits self in head* Argh!!!

Favorite quote (one of them):
It is what it is.

Another favorite quote:
Twitter is for twits. Because traditional twitterers don't tweet on twitter, they tweet on paper! * Wink Loving this one*

Yet another favorite quote:
Pat Parelli proudly presents his provocative program and the proclamation that prior and proper preparation prevents poor performance. Particularly when polite and passive persistence is practiced in the proper position. This perspective takes patience from process to product, from principle to purpose. The promise that Pat plans to prove is that practice does not make perfect; only perfect practice makes perfect.

Awww I'm sorry that happened  Sad My old laptop crashed with my failed Nano on it, but it was a few weeks after the end of Nano so it hadn't stopped me from finishing. The important thing is that you got it back, you would never be able to rewrite exactly what you had before if it had not come back. So you got lucky there.

As for not being able to finish.... it wasn't your fault so don't go into the cycle of "I failed Janno, therefore I'm a total failure" You just feel victim to the downfalls of technology. In my mind, you did win Janno because I know that you could have done it without technological glitches.

So don't get down on yourself and keep writing!

Thanks a lot, Emily! Smiley I've started writing again, and am even writing a novella (my first novella ever) to base the plot  for my Script Frenzy. Yey! Smiley
Congrats on finishing your goal! (I think that little winner's badge looks adorable... Grin )
